Las Cruces Police Hope To Solve 25-Year-Old Murder

  Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,000 reward for information that helps identify the person or persons who killed a gas station attendant in January 1990.

Salvador Lozano was 32 years old when he was killed on the morning of Sunday, Jan. 14, 1990, at Ray’s Shell Service station, 2417 W. Picacho Ave. He died from at least one gunshot wound to his head.

Lozano’s death was less than one month before seven Las Cruces residents were shot, execution-style, at Las Cruces Bowl on Amador Avenue. That case also remains unsolved. Detectives do not believe the two incidents are related.

Investigators learned that Lozano opened Ray’s Shell Station at 8 a.m. that Sunday morning. Two customers discovered Lozano’s lifeless body in the gas station’s office at around 10 a.m.

Anyone with information that can help identify the person or persons responsible for killed Salvador Lozano on Jan. 14, 1990, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or send a tip by text message to CRIMES (274637), keyword LCTIPS.
