Las Cruces Police Investigate Attempted Robbery

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – Las Cruces Police are continuing to investigate an attempted strong-armed robbery that occurred Friday evening as a woman made an after-hours deposit at a local bank.

At around 6:40 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, police were called to Citizens Bank, at 505 S. Main St., where two men assaulted a woman and attempted to steal the cash that she had just deposited.

The woman was thrown to the ground by both suspects but was not seriously injured.

LCPD investigators learned that the woman drove up and parked near the night depository at the bank. The woman stepped out of her vehicle and had just finished making a deposit when the first suspect ran up and pushed her to the ground. The man then verbally ordered the second suspect to grab the deposit.

The second suspect also pushed the woman to the ground but was unable to steal the deposit since it was already secured in the night depository.

The first suspect was wearing blue jeans, and a navy blue hoodie with white stripes on its sleeves and a white emblem on the front. The second suspect was wearing blue jeans, a white T-shirt and a black ski mask.

The two men were last seen running eastbound from the bank toward Campo Street.

Anyone with information on the identity of the two suspects is asked to call Las Cruces Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or send a tip via text message to LCTIPS (528477).
