Las Cruces Police Investigate Sexual Assault

Las Cruces – Las Cruces Police are investigating a sexual assault that was reported Sunday and are asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect.

Shortly before 7 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, police were called to Memorial Medical Center where a 22-year-old woman was being evaluated for a sexual assault that occurred at her residence early that morning.

The woman told police that she was home Sunday morning when she awoke at around 2:30 a.m. and found a man inside her residence on the 1900 block of Wyoming Avenue. The woman told detectives that the man held a knife to her throat, sexually assaulted her, and then forced her to bathe and launder bed linens before he left.

The woman described the man as Hispanic with dark skin, short hair and a mustache. He was said to be around 5-feet-6-inches tall and weighs approximately 200 pounds. He was wearing a faded blue long-sleeve shirt, blue jeans and white shoes.
