Las Cruces Police Make 15 Burglary Arrests; Additional Charges Possible

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – Las Cruces Police arrested a total of 15 burglary suspects - including 10 juveniles and five adults - during the month of December 2010.

Of the 15 arrests seven were for residential burglaries, six were for non-residential burglaries and two arrests were for auto burglaries. The suspects are facing various charges including burglary, larceny, tampering with evidence and conspiracy.

The adults arrested were charged and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center. The Juvenile Probation Office declined to authorize detention of any of the teenagers after their arrests so the juveniles were charged with their respective crimes and then released to the custody of parents or guardians.

LCPD detectives are continuing to investigate other burglaries that were committed in December and believe that some of the recent arrestees may be suspects in those crimes as well.

The Las Cruces Police Department reminds burglary victims to immediately report the offense to police and refrain from disturbing the crime scene in order to preserve potential evidence. Residents also are reminded to keep a record of their valuables such as jewelry, electronics and firearms. A detailed record of such valuables - including applicable serial numbers or photos of the items - prove helpful in matching stolen goods with their rightful owner.
