Las Cruces Police Mobile Command Center To Visit East Mesa Next Week

The Las Cruces Police Department’s Mobile Operations Command center will deploy to the East Mesa for four days next week beginning Thursday, Nov. 29.

The Mobile Operation Command will be stationed at 10 a.m. Nov. 29 at Big Daddy’s Flea Market at 5580 Bataan Memorial East. The command center will remain at the flea market until 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2. The MOC will be manned 24 hours a day.

Las Cruces residents who reside on the East Mesa are encouraged to stop by and visit with police officers, share their ideas for a safer community and discuss any law enforcement concerns they may have. No appointment is necessary to visit with a police officer at the MOC.

Throughout the MOC’s deployment at Big Daddy’s, the Las Cruces Police Officers Association and La Pinon Sexual Assault Recovery Services of Southern New Mexico will be soliciting donations of non-perishable foods and supplies. La Pinon, the only full-service sexual assault response agency in Southern New Mexico, provides recovery services for sexual abuse victims and their families.

La Pinon requests donations of non-frozen foods that are ready to eat such as soups, Ramon noodles, snacks and sodas. La Pinon also has a need for throw blankets and new socks, primarily for women and children. New or gently-used winter coats for children will also be accepted at the donation site.

Also at the MOC next week will be a collection for the Toys for Tots program run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Toys for Tots collects new, unwrapped toys and distributes them as Christmas gifts to needy children within the community.

Anyone wishing to make a donation of foods or supplies to La Pinon, or new and unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots, may do so at any time during the MOC’s deployment.

The Las Cruces Police Department will also host a free Ident-A-Child program for children at the MOC. The Ident-A-Child will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1.
