Las Cruces Police Search For Gunman

Police are looking for the man believed to be responsible for a Wednesday morning shooting that sent a 27-year-old Las Cruces woman to the hospital with two gunshot wounds.  Shortly after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Las Cruces Police were dispatched to a residence just south of 1040 Holly Drive where the shooting is believed to have occurred. Police learned that an argument between the woman and a 34-year-old man escalated to the point that he fired at least two rounds, striking her upper chest.

The man left the residence and, according to witnesses, ran westbound on Holly Drive before jumping a fence and into an undeveloped area near El Camino Real.

The woman was treated at the scene before being transported to University Medical Center of El Paso. The woman’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Police believe the woman and man knew each other and may have been in a relationship.

The suspect is described as a bald Hispanic male, 6-feet-2-inches tall and approximately 250 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

The suspect is believed to be armed and should be considered dangerous.

Anyone with information on this incident or the whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call 911 immediately.
