Las Cruces Police Search For Shooting And Armed Robbery Suspects

Las Cruces Police are investigating two armed robberies and a shooting from Tuesday evening, all possibly committed by the same two individuals.

At around 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, police were dispatched to the report of suspicious activity at the Pic Quik store at 4675 Sonoma Ranch Blvd.

Officers quickly learned that two men, one of whom was armed with a gun, ordered patrons and employees of the Pic Quik to the floor before taking money. As the two suspects ran southbound from the store, the armed assailant fired one round at a 63-year-old man who was at the nearby carwash.

The shooting victim was struck in the leg while the two suspects continued south from the store. The victim was treated at the scene before being transported to a local hospital. His injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

A short while later, Las Cruces Police were dispatched to an armed robbery at the University Shell gas station and convenience store at 1305 S. Solano Dr. Officers learned that two men, one carrying a gun, entered that business and demanded money from a clerk.

Police believe the same two men may be responsible for committing both armed robberies. The men were described as wearing dark-colored hoodies.
