Las Cruces Police Seek Stabbing Suspects

Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that helps identify the suspects in a Thursday evening stabbing that sent a man to the hospital.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10, Las Cruces Police were dispatched to the 4200 block of Broadview where a 19-year-old man was suffering from at least one stab wound. The man received first aid at the scene and was then airlifted to University Medical Center of El Paso. His injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Detectives learned that the man and his wife were driving home last night when they were accosted by a group of young men, possibly teenagers, who threw something at their vehicle. The 19-year-old stopped the vehicle and confronted the boys.

Witnesses told police that a fight broke out and the 19-year-old man was stabbed.

The two to five suspects were all described as teenagers. They were said to be Hispanic, approximately 5-foot-3-inches to 5-feet-5-inches tall and thin.

One of the suspects was believed to be wearing a short-sleeve blue and white flannel shirt. Another was wearing a white, long-sleeve hooded sweatshirt with a symbol across the chest. Yet another suspect was believed to have a spiked haircut and was wearing a white shirt.

Anyone with information that can help identify the suspects is asked to call Las Cruces Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or send a tip via text message to CRIMES (274637), keyword LCTIPS.

The Crime Stoppers number and text messaging services are operational 24 hours a day and you do not have to give your name to collect a reward.
