Las Cruces Purse Snatcher Sought by Police

  Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that helps identify the man suspected of stealing a woman’s purse as she sat in a local coffee shop.

Shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, Las Cruces Police were dispatched to the report of a stolen purse at Dunkin Donuts on East Lohman Avenue. Offices learned that a 23-year-old woman was sitting in the coffee shop when an unknown man approached, grabbed her purse and ran out the door.

The purse was described as a brown Fossil purse with a Fossil wallet inside. The purse was taken from a seat next to the woman.

The suspect was described as white, approximately 5-feet-9-inches tall with short blond hair. He was wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans. It’s believed he got into a red sedan driven by a Hispanic man with a beard.

A surveillance camera at Dunkin Donuts captured images of the suspect.

Anyone with information that can help identify the suspect, or the driver of the vehicle, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or send a tip by text message to CRIMES (274637), keyword LCTIPS.

The Crime Stoppers number and text messaging services are operational 24 hours a day and you do not have to give your name to collect a reward.
