Las Cruces Receives Major Federal Grants

Las Cruces – Senator Jeff Bingaman has announced major federal grants for Las Cruces area totaling more than $700,000.

The grants include:

Las Cruces Airport - $418,589: The grant, funded through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), will fund airport imagery and data collection for uploading into the Federal Aviation Administration's Airports Geographic Information System (A-GIS). It will also contribute to the development of an electronic Airport Layout Plan (eALP).

New Mexico State University--$299,312: This project, funded through the U.S. Department of Energy, will design, build, test and validate two prototype devices that will harvest the maximum amount of energy from low-head dams and drops in the waterway.
