Las Cruces School Threat Suspect in Custody

The man believed to be responsible for Friday’s threat made via social media and targeting Conlee Elementary School has been taken into custody and the shelter-in-place at all schools was lifted.

The 23-year-old man was taken into custody near the 300 block of Wyatt Drive. No charges have been filed at this time but Las Cruces Police are continuing to investigate and charges are expected.

Las Cruces Police learned of the threat shortly after noon on Friday, Sept. 15, and soon after asked local schools to shelter-in-place. The validity of the threat is unknown at this time.

A separate and unreleased shots-fired call was reported at around 1 p.m.near the intersection of Idaho Avenue and Lees Drive. That call prompted police to place Lynn Middle School on lockdown. No injuries were reported in that incident and the perceived victim declined to file charges.

No other information is available at this time.
