Las Cruces Senior Centers Closed On May 17

All City of Las Cruces senior centers will be closed Friday, May 17, to enable staff to attend all-day, in-service training. There will be no congregate meals that day, and home delivered meal consumers will receive a weekend meal on Thursday, May 16, in lieu of Friday’s normal delivery.  All art classes are cancelled. Cards and Chess will relocate for the day to Branigan Library, 200 E. Picacho Ave., meeting at its regular times.

Senior Programs staff gather once a year for an all-day training. This year’s focus is “Caring for Yourself While You Care for Others.” The training sessions will include emergency procedures, teamwork, dealing with stressful situations, and healthy lifestyles for caregivers. The City of Las Cruces is aware that the one-day closure is an inconvenience and apologizes in advance. However, the training will enable staff to better to serve its customers.
