Las Cruces Store's Former Employee Arrested In Armed Robbery

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – A former employee of a Family Dollar was arrested Sunday for committing an armed robbery at the store where he used to work.

Victor O. Flores, 21, of the 3800 block of south Main Street, is charged with armed robbery and tampering with evidence.

At around 8 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, Las Cruces Police were called to the Family Dollar store at 3975 S. Main St. where a robbery at knife-point had just been committed. Police learned that a manager of the store was leaving the store to make a daily deposit when he was approached by a masked man wearing a black hoodie.

The suspect displayed what appeared to be a knife and demanded the deposit bag. The suspect then ran from the store and left the area in a white Dodge Neon.

A short while later Sunday morning LCPD officers located Flores driving the vehicle. A consensual search of the vehicle revealed the black hoodie and the cash that was taken during the robbery.

Detectives learned that Flores was employed by the Family Dollar store up until recently when he lost his job.

Flores was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $30,000.
