Las Cruces Suspects Charged in Auto Burglary Spree

Las Cruces Police arrested a pair of teenagers suspected of breaking into and burglarizing several vehicles in the Four Hills Neighborhood.

D’Angelo Olivero, 19, and Osvaldo Delgado, 18, are charged with six counts each of burglary of a vehicle, one count of larceny and one count of tampering with evidence. Delgado also faces one count of possession of a stolen vehicle.

At about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, police were dispatched to the report of two young men checking for unlocked vehicle doors on the 3400 block of Jupiter Road. Officers arrived to find several open car doors.

Soon after arriving, officers also located Olivero and Delgado who were walking in the neighborhood. The two teenagers matched the description of the suspects given by a witness.

Detectives learned that Olivero and Delgado went to the neighborhood in a Ford pickup that had previously been reported stolen in Las Cruces. They parked the vehicle and began walking along the roadway, checking for unlocked vehicles and stealing valuables from those cars.

Detectives also discovered video surveillance of the two suspects as they committed the crimes.

Olivero and Delgado were both booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center where they are initially being held without bond.
