Las Cruces Technical Rescue Team Relocated to Katy

The City of Las Cruces Fire Department’s Technical Rescue Team (TRT) continues to assist in relief and rescue efforts in the Houston area. After helping with evacuations and rescues this morning in Fort Bend County, the six-man crew was relocated to Katy, Texas, where they continue to remove citizens from flooded neighborhoods.

The volunteers from LCFD continue to work with Texas’ Task Force 2, and will return to the Sugarland/Fort Bend County area this evening to provide door-to-door searches of homes in neighborhoods not yet examined.

The team reports they are in high spirits that they could contribute to the relief efforts. All members have experienced positive reactions with residents and they report that the facilities and staging areas for responders are in good condition.

Members include: Lieutenant Joe Leos, Lieutenant Tibor Kocsis, Battalion Chief Jeremiah Lay, Firefighter Arnold Diaz, Driver/Operator Jeremy Eckhart and Firefighter Michael Graham (show from left to right in attached photo).

Two of the accompanying photos show flooding from the perspective of TRT members within rescue vehicles, and a third photo shows LCFD’s vehicle and swift water rescue equipment-filled trailer amongst other relief vehicles.
