By KRWG News

Las Cruces – The Las Cruces Police Department issued 38 citations during a midday traffic enforcement operation Wednesday near Mayfield High School.

Most of the 38 citations - 14 of them - were issued to motorists driving above the posted speed limit. Seven drivers were cited for not having proof of insurance, four for not having a driver's license and three for using a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle.

The remaining 10 citations were for various offenses such as driving without a seatbelt or restraint, failing to yield for a pedestrian and driving a vehicle with expired registration.

Wednesday's traffic operation ran from 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. near the intersection of Valley Drive and Hoagland Road. LCPD will conduct similar traffic enforcement operations within city limits in the near future.
