Las Cruces – U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman this week will hold an Energy and Natural Resources Committee meeting to consider pending legislation, including two bills authored by Bingaman.
On Wednesday, the Energy Committee will consider the Organ Mountains -Desert Peaks Wilderness Act, legislation Bingaman introduced along with Senator Tom Udall that creates wilderness and conservation areas in Do a Ana County. Bingaman's Public Lands Service Corps Act of 2009, which expands on the existing Public Lands Corps by expanding the scope of corps projects to reflect new challenges such as climate change, is also on Wednesday's Energy Committee agenda.
On the floor this week, the Senate will resume consideration of the Small Business Lending Fund Act. Also this week, the Senate hopes to finally end a filibuster and approve legislation to extend unemployment benefits to Americans who have been unable to find a job in this difficult economic climate.
