Las Cruces Woman Charged for Kidnapping, Stabbing Boyfriend

Las Cruces Police arrested a woman suspected of kidnapping her boyfriend and stabbing him multiple times while he was restrained in the passenger seat of his vehicle.

Kayla Martinez Bailey, 30, of the 1100 block of Calle De Sol, is charged with kidnapping, 11 counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and two counts of battery against a household member.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 28, police were dispatched to the report of a stabbing on the 900 block of Calle De Encanto. Officers found a 23-year-old man inside a vehicle, suffering from multiple stab wounds to his legs and back. The man was transported to a local hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Detectives learned that the victim was in the company of his girlfriend, Bailey, who wanted to hang out with him that evening. The victim told detectives that they drove to a neighborhood park where Bailey climbed into the rear passenger seat and used zip ties to restrain both his arms behind his back.

She then drove to her residence where she emerged with a chain saw she used to threaten his life. Detectives learned that as she drove a block away from her home, she stabbed her boyfriend repeatedly upon his legs and back.

A passerby noticed the struggle inside the vehicle and stopped to render aid. That’s when Bailey fled on foot and police were dispatched to the scene.

Police located Bailey later that evening as she drove along Calle Jitas near the Dona Ana County Community College East Mesa Campus.

Bailey was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center where she’s currently being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond.
