LAS CRUCES, N.M. – This afternoon, District Attorney Mark D’Antonio announced that a grand jury has indicted a Las Cruces woman on 24 felony counts in connection to a string of burglaries.
Amanda Aberle, 27, was indicted on two counts of residential burglary and one count of fraudulent use of a credit card, all third-degree felonies.
According to detectives with the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office, the defendant was linked to a stolen specialized wheelchair-stroller made for a disabled Las Cruces girl.
The defendant was also indicted on one count of larceny (over $2500), a third-degree felony, or, in the alternative, burglary of a vehicle, a fourth-degree felony.
The grand jury also indicted her on several fourth-degree felonies including seven counts of unlawful taking of a vehicle, four counts of conspiracy to commit unlawful taking of a vehicle, two counts of receiving stolen property, two counts of tampering with evidence, one count of possession of burglary tools, one count of larceny (over $500), one count of conspiracy to commit residential burglary, one count of criminal damage to property (over $1000) and one count of theft of a credit card.
The defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of three years behind bars for each third-degree felony and 18 months in prison for each fourth-degree felony.
