Latest Storm Brings Cold Temperatures To N.M.

Crews are out plowing roads and spreading salt and cinder on highways in northern New Mexico after a storm dropped snow in some parts of the state.

The state Transportation Department reports difficult driving conditions in the Red River and Agua Fria areas Tuesday morning.

Highways reported to have difficult conditions include U.S. 64 west of Interstate 25 and New Mexico 38 between Red River and Idlewild.

Authorities are warning travelers to be careful and to slow down.

The National Weather Service says the late season snow is expected to diminish in the afternoon, while winter weather advisories remain in effect for parts of northern and central New Mexico through early evening.

The weather service says the potential for critical fire weather conditions will increase late next weekend.
