A new fire start on the Lincoln National Forest was reported at 10:46 a.m. The Chippeway Fire (Lat. 32 deg 54 min 20.52 sec x Long. 105 deg 42 min 27.73 sec) is located about 5 miles southeast of Cloudcroft, New Mexico. Otero County Volunteer Fire Department resources responded quickly and USFS firefighting resources, including a Hotshot Crew are on scene. The fire is currently in mop-up stage. No structures are threatened.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
