"Little Anthony" Coming To Las Cruces

The Doña Ana Arts Council welcomes 2015 with an intimate evening in the company of Jerome Anthony Gourdine, better known as Little Anthony, delivering his one-man show celebrating 56 years in show business. On tour to promote the release of his new book, “Little Anthony: My Journey, My Destiny,” by Arlene Krieger, Anthony will regale audiences with a nostalgic look back at the golden age of Rock ‘n Roll, then sign copies of his book, which will be on sale either on the website or after the show. Ring in the New Year at the Rio Grande Theatre with the legendary Little Anthony, Wednesday, December 31, 2014.

On this tour, and accompanied by pianist and Imperial Johnny Britt, Anthony will enchant audiences with stories, anecdotes and hit songs from over half a century as a musician. Hear how it all began in Brooklyn, hearing his first song on a transistor radio when he was just 18, through his influential relationships with some of the biggest acts of the day, including Marvin Gaye, Sammy Davis Jr., Moms Mabley, Miles Davis and Aretha Franklin. Follow Anthony as he relates tales ranging from ‘60s racial prejudice horrors to the honor of his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009.

Little Anthony along with his band the Imperials, have performed live before millions and sold over 22 million records worldwide in the last 57 years. Although Little Anthony still tours with The Imperials, he has long desired to record a “solo-driven duets album” similar to the one Tony Bennett famously did. The album he desired is now in pre-production – release date in mid-to-late 2015.Tentatively titled, “It Takes Two,” the album will be released on the New Jersey-based Reviver Records label.

The Rio Grande Theatre is located at 211 N. Main Street, in Las Cruces. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the performance begins at 7 p.m. Reserved seat tickets are $45.50 and $34.50 (including all fees) and may be purchased in person at the box office (9 a.m. to 5 p.m. M-F) on the 2nd floor of the Rio Grande Theatre or online at www.RioGrandeTheatre.com.
