Location: 6 miles east of Timberon, NM near the Carrisa Lookout
Cause of Fire: Lightning
Area Vegetation: Mixed conifer, ponderosa pine and grass
Acres Burned: 1.07 acres
Jurisdiction: Lincoln National Forest
Percent contained: 100% as of 10:30 pm on June 22
Firefighting resources assigned: As of 4:48 pm today (6/23), the IC reported no smokes or heat found in the fire area. All resources have been released from the fire, but will be returning to the scene to patrol the area for the next few days.
Structures Threatened: None
Current Status: Firefighters declared the fire 100% contained last night (June 22) at 10:30 pm. They stayed on scene through the night and continued mopping up today. All firefighting resources were released around 5:00 pm today (6/23) and they returned to their stations. FS engines will be patrolling the Long Fire and surrounding area for the next few days.
