New Mexico – Congressman Ben Ray Lujan is urging the Legislature to support the development of a clean energy industry in New Mexico.
Lujan spoke Monday to a joint session of the Legislature. He said education, energy and technology investments can help spur economic growth in New Mexico, and those investments should continue despite budget problems confronting the state.
The Democratic congressman said New Mexico is poised to be a leader in clean energy production because of its natural gas production as well solar and wind power resources.
Lujan asked legislators to support development of fueling stations for vehicles powered by natural gas.
Lujan represents the 3rd Congressional District of northern New Mexico. He is the son of House Speaker Ben Lujan.
