Major Drug Bust In Las Cruces

Metro Narcotics had an investigation that resulted in the seizure of 4.5 lbs. of methamphetamine, the seizure of $24,000 in U.S. currency and the arrest of two men for trafficking methamphetamine.

The incident occurred on Sept. 24, 2016, at approximately 5 p.m. at 190 E. University Ave. The two men arrested are Freddy Dorantes-Lopez from Phoenix, Ariz., and Carlos Garcia from Albuquerque.

The case was the result of a two-week investigation into an organization located in the Las Cruces area that transports methamphetamine throughout the state of New Mexico. The street value of the methamphetamine is estimated at $160,000.
