By KRWG News

Las Cruces – Las Cruces Police arrested a man who, shortly after noon Wednesday, fired a handgun from his car toward a vehicle occupied by three people.

Christopher Michael Sanchez, 18, of the 5000 block of Answer Drive, is charged with three fourth-degree felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and one count of shooting at or from a motor vehicle.

Shortly before 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, police were called after someone driving east on Lohman Avenue, near Interstate 25, in what was believed to be a blue Chevy Impala, fired a handgun at another vehicle. No injuries were reported but one bullet hole was visible on a rear quarter panel of the victims' vehicle.

A few minutes later, an officer located Sanchez driving on Northrise Drive. Officers stopped Sanchez near Sonoma Ranch Boulevard and detained him for questioning. He was subsequently arrested and charged with the four felony counts.

Sanchez was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $20,000.
