Man Arrested For Robbing Customer At Lohman Shell Station

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – Las Cruces Police have charged a man for his involvement in Wednesday afternoon's robbery of a motorist as he pumped gas at an area convenience store.

Christopher Michael Sanchez, 18, of the 5000 block of Answer Drive, is charged with one count of robbery and one count of tampering with evidence.

Shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, Las Cruces Police were called to the Nacho Shell convenience store, on the corner of east Lohman Avenue and Nacho Drive, where a man, later identified as Sanchez, confronted a 59-year-old motorist and took a gold necklace as the victim was fueling his vehicle.

Detectives learned that Sanchez initially approached the victim and blamed him for nearly causing a traffic crash just a few minutes earlier.

Sanchez fled the area in a blue Chevy Impala but, within minutes, was located by Las Cruces Police officers a few blocks east of where the crime occurred. Officers questioned two other young men who were with Sanchez but no charges were filed against them.

Sanchez was transported to the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $10,000.
