By KRWG News

Las Cruces – Las Cruces Police arrested Jaime Valdez who was wanted here and in Albuquerque on various warrants.

Valdez, 20, is being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center on two warrants out of Albuquerque and one in Las Cruces. His total bond was set at $150,000.

Valdez is wanted by Albuquerque police for aggravated assault, robbery and kidnapping. In Las Cruces he is wanted for his participation in a Thursday, Oct. 29, incident involving his brother, 23-year-old Marcos Y. Valdez. In that incident the Valdez brothers were apparently arguing over a handgun when the firearm discharged and both men fled in a 2007 Pontiac G6 sedan.

Marcos Valdez crashed the car on west Las Cruces Avenue and police found Marcos' 3-year-old son and a handgun in the back seat of the Pontiac. Marcos was taken into custody at the scene but Jaime ran from officers and his whereabouts were unknown throughout the weekend.

Las Cruces Police followed several leads since Thursday and received information that Jaime was staying at a residence on the 5900 block of Peachtree Hills Road. With the assistance of Dona Ana County Sheriff's deputies, Las Cruces Police officers located Jaime at that residence shortly after 2 a.m. today.

Another man located at the Peachtree Hills residence, 43-year-old Rodrigo Hernandez Lunares, also was arrested after police learned he has six outstanding warrants.

Lunares was transported to the detention center with bond set at $21,000. Marcos Valdez was charged with intentional child abuse and was incarcerated Oct. 29 with bond set at $10,000.
