Las Cruces – Police arrested a Las Cruces man Thursday evening after he stabbed his 90-year-old roommate multiple times.
Howard A. DeSavino, 51, of the 4600 block of Nogal Canyon Road, is charged with one count of aggravated battery causing death or great bodily harm.
Shortly after 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, the victim called 911 to report that he had been stabbed by his roommate. Las Cruces Police arrived at the residence and found the victim with multiple stab wounds and a broken arm. The victim was flown to University Medical Center of El Paso with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Las Cruces Police detained DeSavino at the residence without further incident.
Police learned that DeSavino and the victim have been roommates for 20 years. DeSavino was subsequently arrested and transported to the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $25,000.
