Man Gets Two Years For Alamogordo Bus Stabbings

A judge in Alamogordo has sentenced a 20-year-old man to six years in prison for stabbing two other passengers on a Greyhound bus while high on methamphetamine.

The Alamogordo Daily News reports that Jason Jimenez was sentenced Monday for his convictions on two counts of third-degree felony aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

The stabbings occurred on a bus bound for Ruidoso in June 2012.

Jimenez said he was sorry for his actions but thought he had no choice at the time.

Defense attorney Mario Torrez said his client has mental health issues.

Jimenez will get credit for two years spent in jail.
