LAS CRUCES, N.M. – A Silver City man has been indicted for stabbing a man at Whiskey Dicks in Las Cruces.
Gary Peru, 24, was indicted on one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, or, in the alternative, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, both third-degree felonies.
According to investigators with the Las Cruces Police Department, the defendant stabbed the victim after they got into an argument outside the bar.
The defendant is also charged with tampering with evidence, a fourth-degree felony.
If convicted as charged, he faces a maximum possible sentence of 4 ½ years behind bars. He may also face an enhanced sentence for previous convictions.
