A fugitive sought in a shooting at a southwestern New Mexico highway rest stop was arrested in a Silver City house following a five-hour standoff that ended when law enforcement officers stormed inside.
Nathan Rowland was arrested Tuesday after being sought in the wounding Monday of 44-year-old Eric Arzate of Las Cruces at a U.S. 180 rest stop near Deming.
The U.S. Marshals Service says Rowland was listed by the New Mexico Corrections Department and the service as a wanted offender.
Rowland was wanted on charges of absconding from probation, drug possession, assault and battery, aggravated assault against a household member, larceny of a firearm, and felon in possession of a firearm.
