Man Wanted In Alleged Brass Knuckles Beating
Doña Ana County Sheriff’s investigators have obtained a warrant for a 21-year-old Las Cruces man who allegedly beat his girlfriend’s stepfather in the face.
According to court documents, on April 25, 2013, the victim asked Oscar Sagarnaga to move out of his house, located in the 3700 block of West Haines Road. Sagarnaga had been living with the victim and his girlfriend, the victim’s stepdaughter, for about five months in the victim’s home.
Sagarnaga reportedly became enraged at the request, and punched the victim three times in the face. The victim told investigators Sagarnaga had used a metal weapon that fit around the knuckles, commonly referred to as brass knuckles.
The victim reportedly drove himself to the hospital, where he received treatment for lacerations and other injuries he received to his face.
A warrant for Sagarnaga’s arrest was issued Wednesday. He is wanted on one felony count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Magistrate Judge Kent Wigenroth set Sagarnaga’s bond at $20,000 cash.
Sagarnaga is described as six feet tall, weighing about 250 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department, (575) 525-8806.
