Commentary: Now that the GOP short term jobs plan (for political campaign workers) is entering its final stage (presidential election) it is surprising but good to see a long term plan developing. This might even create a new industry with a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist. I’m referring, of course, to a new Republican wishful requirement to use the restroom designated for the gender to which one was born.
Now documentation will be required, certainly a birth certificate and photo ID. But what will the pictures show? I’m sure the original “equipment” will have changed in dimension and description over the years as will have the facial features. A new document showing those transitions along with any name changes (e.g. marriage license) will be required. So, now I show up at the restroom of my “gender” with all this documentation to show to the on-duty member of the “Restroom Investigative Patrol” (AKA “RIP”).
How does s/he know what to look for/at? Must I also show the “equipment” or just stand for a pat down? These “monitors” must be trained to greater standards, because of the personal nature of the interaction, than the TSA.
And in all Republican tradition this should not be a governmental function but left to suitable, private colleges and trade schools (e.g. Trump U.). Because each restroom will require a RIP “monitor” here’s a way we can reemploy the 18,000 soon-to-be unemployed Border Patrol Agents when the “WALL” goes up. Way to GO GOP! Forward Thinking!
But government will still have to be included in the process to provide all this documentation and review. I would think the Department of Agriculture could be expanded from controlling not only what goes into our bodies but also how and where it comes out.
Now, what’s the problem?
