Martinez Administration Sued Over Stalled Education Center
SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — A Santa Fe college is taking legal action against the state in a bid to gain approval for a planned education center.
Attorneys for Santa Fe Community College's governing board filed a request in court Tuesday for an order that would compel state education officials to review construction plans for a Higher Education Center.
College officials say a routine review of is the final step necessary to get the project off the ground.
The State Department of Education says legislative approval is required before construction can begin.
The school purchased land from the state to build the facility. The building would have financial aid offices, computer labs, classrooms and other amenities for students.
