Martinez Nominates DOT Secretary
New Mexico – Gov. Susana Martinez is nominating Transportation Department engineer Alvin Dominguez to run the agency.
Martinez announced on Thursday the appointment of Dominguez as the department's cabinet secretary.
Dominguez has worked for the state agency since 1995, and previously was a field engineer for the city of Roswell.
Since 2007, Dominguez has served as manager of the department's south region design center, which helps develop highway plans.
Dominguez received an undergraduate degree in civil engineering in 1983 from New Mexico State University.
Martinez said Dominguez has the background to help her balance state transportation needs and the prudent use of taxpayer money. His nomination is subject to Senate confirmation.
