Medical Examiner Confirms Body Found Is That Of Missing Man

A body discovered in Chaparral on April 10 by Doña Ana County Sheriff’s investigators has been positively identified as 66-year-old Hector Gardea.

The University of New Mexico Office of the Medical Examiner confirmed Gardea’s identity with the sheriff’s office Monday.

Gardea’s family notified the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department after they had not heard from their father in several days.

A cause of death has not been determined, but investigators say they still do not have any evidence that suggests foul play.

Toxicology reports are still pending.
