El Paso – El Paso County's embattled medical examiner has been fired.
County Commissioner Veronica Escobar said the board voted 3-1 Monday to fire Dr. Paul Shrode. His flawed testimony in a 1997 murder case has prompted Ohio authorities to recommend a death sentence be overturned.
Shrode has been under fire in El Paso over questions about his resume and lack of board certification in forensic pathology.
