Memorial Honors Runner Who Died In The Gila
BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Runners will be gathering in Boulder to remember and honor ultrarunner Micah True, who died last week while running in southwestern New Mexico.
Organizers say they will have a one-hour run Friday afternoon at Chautauqua Park to honor True, followed by a memorial gathering at 6 p.m.
Searchers found True's body Saturday, four days after he had gone out for a run. He was found along a mountain stream in a remote part of the Gila Wilderness, with no obvious signs of trauma.
True, nicknamed "Caballo Blanco," was featured in the book "Born to Run." The book tells of how True worked to develop the 50-mile-plus Copper Canyon race in the Mexican state of Chihuahua as a celebration of the indigenous Tarahumara's way of life and their love of running.
