Texas – A memorial service is set for tomorrow in Dallas for the slain son of former Texas Gov. Bill Clements.
The body of 69-year-old B. Gill Clements was discovered, in a shallow grave, at the Athens-area ranch of neighbor Howard Granger.
Officers returned fire and killed Granger last Friday as he confronted them as they tried to search his property for Clements, who was reported missing the day before.
Henderson County Sheriff Ray Nutt says Clements sometime earlier had complained when Granger shot across a fence at a tree on his property.
Nutt says authorities believe Clements had been shot -- by Granger.
Granger's small wood frame house sits at the dead end of a narrow dirt lane, under towering trees with signs warning, "Keep Out" and "No Trespassing."
Nutt says Granger's wife was home during Friday's shootout. Deputies had to use tear gas to get her out and she refused to speak to authorities.
Athens is 60 miles southeast of Dallas.
