Mesilla Officials Mull Two Key Appointments

The Mesilla board of trustees on Monday will consider filling two key positions on the town staff.

The Las Cruces Sun-News reports that the board could appoint a new marshal and select at least an interim town clerk and treasurer.

The new marshal would replace former marshal Jeff Gray.

Gray resigned in mid-June to accept a position with the Dona Ana County District Attorney's Office.

Marcel Jojola is serving as the interim marshal.

The board also will consider a replacement for Town Clerk and Treasurer Nicholas Eckert.

Eckert resigned last week and accepted a position as city clerk in a Texas community.
