A Mexican Springs man has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for involuntary manslaughter in New Mexico.
Federal prosecutors say 44-year-old Berland Thomas will be on three years of supervised release after serving his prison term.
Thomas was arrested last June on a criminal complaint charging him with murder.
According to the complaint, Thomas allegedly killed a man by beating him with his fists during an alcohol-fueled fight on the Navajo Nation in New Mexico's McKinley County.
Thomas was subsequently indicted and charged with second-degree murder.
He pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in February.
