Missing El Paso Woman Found In Las Cruces; Suspect Arrested

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – An El Paso man was arrested Wednesday evening after his 48-year-old ex-girlfriend walked into a Las Cruces Wal-Mart store battered, bruised and asking for help.

Miguel Antonio Hoffman, 49, of the 14,500 block of Eckelberger in El Paso, Texas, is charged with one count each of battery against a family member and false imprisonment.

The woman, who had been reported missing earlier this week from El Paso, was transported to Memorial Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Shortly before 10 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, police were called to the Wal-Mart store on south Valley Drive when a woman walked into the store and asked employees for help. Hoffman apparently followed the woman into the store and was seen arguing with the woman.

Las Cruces Police detained Hoffman inside the store.

Detectives believe Hoffman battered the woman multiple times and was holding her against her will. Police in El Paso have been notified as it appears the incident may have originated in that city.

Hoffman was transported to the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $6,000.
