Moore Fire Update

There was very little activity on the Moore Fire in the Gila Wilderness Thursday. The lightning-caused fire is reported as 4,000 acres with 107 personnel assigned. The fire continued to burn slowly in large fuels near the perimeter as light rain fell during the day.

Today, crews will continue to monitor and improve boundary management lines around the fire.  With the predicted increase in moisture for the weekend, decreasing the size of the organization is in the planning stages.

All campgrounds on the Wilderness Ranger District are open and first-come, first-serve. Smoke may be noticeable from time to time as the fire continues to creep and smolder within the perimeter. In addition, flash flooding is possible any time heavy rainfall occurs.

Please be alert to road grading on FR150. It is expected to last two more days.
