More Than 2,200 Set To Graduate From NMSU Las Cruces

Las Cruces – An estimated 2,211 students are candidates for degrees and about 1,500 will take part in New Mexico State University's spring 2011 commencement ceremonies at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at the Pan American Center. Tickets are not required. The Pan American Center will open an hour before each ceremony.

Of the degrees to be awarded at NMSU's Las Cruces campus, two are associate's degrees, 1,523 are bachelor's degrees and 686 are graduate degrees. An additional 829 associate's degrees will be awarded to students graduating from NMSU Alamogordo, NMSU Carlsbad, NMSU Dona Ana Community College and NMSU Grants this spring.

Candidates for degrees should check in east of the Pan American Center. Arrowhead Drive between Triviz Drive and Stewart Street along the Pan Am will be closed for commencement. Graduate and general parking will be in the lots to the north and east of the Pan Am, with handicapped parking to the north and northeast of the building.

NMSU will honor John Papen as well as Herb and Joan Zuhl with honorary degrees during the ceremonies in recognition of their continuing support for the university.

Media covering the event should pick up a media pass in the coordinating center tent in Lot 32 east of the Pan American Center. Staff will be available at the tent throughout the ceremonies.
