State police say there will be an increased law enforcement presence at the New Mexico State Fair.

New Mexico State Police Lt. Kevin Bruno tells KRQE-TV that more officers are patrolling the fairgrounds this year.

Albuquerque police will also be using high-tech camera trailers throughout the area. The cameras stream images to a Real Time Crime Center, where officers can search for missing children or any instigators.

Authorities say nearly 200 people were either cited or arrested during last year's fair.

State police say they plan to pursue animal cruelty charges against a pet owner who left a puppy inside a hot vehicle in the fair parking lot.

KOB-TV reports a security guard spotted the 8-week-old boxer Saturday and it is now at a shelter.
