Mother Arrested For Allegedly Driving Drunk With Infant

Doña Ana County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 22-year-old woman for child abuse and DWI after she drove off with her two-month-old baby girl.

Deputies were called to the home of Lorenza Kasero around 6:30 a.m. Friday after her boyfriend reported that she had been drinking and left in her car with the couple’s infant daughter.

Kasero’s boyfriend also alleged that she scratched him during an argument, during which he reportedly tried to prevent her from leaving with their child. The man was not successful, and called deputies.

After deputies arrived, Kasero returned home with the child and was given field sobriety tests, which she failed.

Kasero is charged with one count of negligent child abuse, driving while intoxicated and battery against a household member. She is being held at the Doña Ana County Detention Center on a $10,000 surety bond.
