A 67-year-old man was airlifted to an El Paso hospital following a Thursday afternoon motorcycle crash near downtown Las Cruces.

Traffic investigators learned that the man was driving his 2004 Harley Davidson north on Campo Street when he was struck by a pickup that was heading east on Hadley Avenue.

The crash occurred shortly after 1 p.m.

The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet. He was treated at the scene and then airlifted to University Medical Center with a head injury. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The 72-year-old driver of the pickup was not injured. He was given a citation for failure to yield after a stop.
