Texas – Governor Rick Perry's spokesman is trying to downplay Perry's comment that he's going to think about running for president.
Mark Miner says the state's longest-serving governor "has no intention of running" for the White House. But he's refused to make Perry available to say that himself. And he declined to say why the governor couldn't personally address the issue.
Earlier in the day, Perry said at a bill-signing ceremony he'll consider entering the race for the Republican nomination after the Texas Legislature adjourns on Monday. The outspoken conservative had been saying for months that he wasn't interested in running for the White House.
