New Mexico – SANTA FE, N.M. (KRWG) The State Game Commission plans to select a new director for the Game and Fish Department in two weeks.
The commission changed its schedule for filing the director's job after receiving only five applications for the post.
The department's website says the applicants will be interviewed by commissioners during a closed-door executive session on Oct. 13. The commission will convene in a public meeting the same day to name a director.
The commission had planned to fill the post in early November and have a search committee trim the list of candidates to five finalists. The search committee has been disbanded because of the small number of applicants.
The new director will replace Tod Stevenson, who's retiring in October.
